My wife, Susan, and I have been married for 40 years and live in Girard, PA   We have been blessed with two sons, two daughter-in-laws and seven grandchildren.  We enjoy family, outdoors and travel.  I trap shoot, bowl and play some golf.  I enjoy the die casting process and the tooling involved with making acceptable die castings and would like to have an opportunity to share my knowledge and skills with the die cast industry.

I started my die casting career in 1973 at Parker White Metal Company in Fairview, PA., currently PHB, Inc.  I retired from PHB in 2007.  My career started as a trainee tool designer and progressed to VP of Engineering upon retirement.  Some of the highlights of my career include:

I was a member of the Ohio State Net Shape for Manufacturing program that was funded by the NSF (National Science Foundation).  I was a member in the late 1980’s into the early 1990’s.  I contributed to the studies on shot sleeve deformation, casting die coatings, tooling start up procedures, shot sleeve pour hole erosion, porosity reduction and a score of other topics.
I have designed over 1,000 tools over the scope of my career.  Tooling for IBM, Rexroth Corporation, Gilbarco, Whirlpool, Black & Decker, Borg Warner and a host of other companies.
I participated in oversees projects with WABCO in Germany and Erricson in Sweden.
I have reviewed and revised existing tooling that customers shipped in that was not producing acceptable product.  The problem was usually a high amount of porosity.  I was able to produce a good casting through gate changes, venting changes, running the tool in the proper die cast machine and process adjustments.
In the early 90’s I organized a manufacturing engineering department that had its office on the shop floor to facilitate problem solving.  The department started with me and our tool room foreman.  It grew to a department of ten people by the time I retired.
I have over 33 years of experience solving tooling problems; many tools that I managed to revise to produce an acceptable casting were deemed “lost causes”.
I was instrumental in the purchasing of aluminum and zinc die cast machines.

I HOPE I CAN BE OF SERVICE TO YOU!
